Self-catering holidays to Devon are more popular than ever this year for obvious reasons, this leads to a problem of availability if information is not correctly portrayed. Even with our portfolio of 2,500 Devon holiday cottages, we are already finding it hard to accommodate people during the summer months of June, July and August. We hate to disappoint anyone but it looks like the situation will only worsen and with only a finite amount of properties we fear some will miss out on a trip to this beautiful county.
How can you secure a Devon Holiday Cottage?
The short answer is book now! If you find a cottage that ticks all your boxes then please secure it if it still has availability. We have taken a large number of calls and messages over the last 2 weeks from people asking for help in securing the property they want and already we have failed in some cases. Family-sized properties sleeping 4 to 6 guests and larger properties sleeping 8 or more and particularly popular this year so if you are thinking about a holiday this year then please don’t delay if you fall into this category. Equally, if you have a long list of requirements such as a hot tub or a swimming pool you may already be too late. Think about widening your search to see if you can secure that property.
Northill sleeps 10 and still has summer 2021 availability. Full details can be found at Northill
What are we doing to help?
Our biggest task, at this stage, is to find any new Devon Holiday Cottages to add to our portfolio. Any new properties will have the availability we so desperately need so we can fulfil your holiday wishes so that is where we are concentrating our efforts. We will be widening the functionality of our website soon so it is easier to see at a glance what our new properties are but new properties we have added recently have booked very fast so again the advice is don’t delay a booing if you like what you see.
Wagtail is a beautiful couples retreat with availability in August – details at Wagtail
What about availability outside of Summer 2021?
If you have failed to secure what you need for the summer, then don’t despair. Devon is a great county to visit at any time of the year. But, as bookings for the summer have filled so fast, other months are filling considerably earlier than in previous years. September is already very full and October and even November are taking many more bookings than in a regular year. Our advice remains the same – please book early to secure your holiday accommodation.
Little Gate Cottage sleeps a family of four and has availability over the summer still. Details at Little Gate Cottage
What about availability Summer 2022?
I think you would be wise to start looking towards next year already if you have not found a cottage available for this year. Or, if you have been successful this year and want to return again (and why wouldn’t you!) then please plan ahead. Once again we are seeing bookings far higher for next year already than we have in previous years. We could well find ourselves in the same situation as now but even earlier than this year if this trend continues. We will keep you updated if this is the case as we want as many people as possible to come and enjoy Devon.
