Devon Dog-Friendly Cottages FAQ

Devon Dog-Friendly Cottages

Below are a series of answers from frequently asked questions from both owners and pets that will allow you to find the perfect dog-friendly Devon cottages even easier:

Do you have any pet-friendly Devon Cottages?

We sure do. We have 1865 dog-friendly cottages dotted all over Devon. If this was your only question then please browse all our Devon pet-friendly cottages now.

How much will it cost to bring my pet/pets?

Each cottage will clearly state how much it will cost but a good rule of thumb is between £20 to £30 per pet. However, we have lots of cottages that allow pets to stay for free. For that list please see our free to stay pet-friendly Devon cottages.

I see some cottages have Dogs Plus as a facility. What is that?

These cottages take a pet-friendly stay that bit further. Your pet will stay for free, a dog bowl and a dog bed will be provided and there will even be a dog themed welcome pack waiting for them on arrival. Here are all our Dogs Plus Cottages.

I have more than one dog. Can they all come?

Yes they can. Each of our pet-friendly cottages clearly shows how many pets they will accept. We have cottages that will accept all the way up to 5 pets.

I have found a dog-friendly cottage. What will I have to bring?

Unless you are staying at one of our Dogs Plus Cottages, then you will have to bring everything you would normally take. As a reminder, a food bowl, water bowl, dog bed, lead, waste bags, food and snacks and a towel will be a great start. Don’t forget their favourite toy!

Are there any good walks once I arrive?

You will be pretty hard pushed not to find a good walk in Devon. However, once you have found a cottage you like it is always worth doing a little bit of extra research on the area to ensure it has the walks your dog will enjoy.

Do all of your dog-friendly cottages have a garden?

Not necessarily. We have quite a few pet-friendly apartments and not all of those will have a garden. Each of our cottage listings will clearly show whether a property has a garden or not so if this is important to you it will be easy to see which fit your criteria.

Will you accept a puppy?

Probably not. Most cottages do use the words “well-behaved” and most puppies won’t fall into that band. However, it never hurts to ask so if you find a pet-friendly cottage you like then click the book button and ask the agent that specific question and they can check directly with the owner for you.

Can I bring our house cat?

Maybe. If you find a pet-friendly cottage you like then click the book button and ask the agent that specific question and they can check directly with the owner for you.

Can I bring my horse?

Yes! Devon is a great place to discover on horseback and we have a few properties that have stabling. Here are all our horse-friendly Devon cottages.

Are there any restrictions on where pets can go in a cottage?

Sometimes. If there are restrictions, such as to be kept downstairs only, it will be clearly documented within the cottage description.

Are there any restrictions when my pet is outside?

Sometimes. A few of our dog-friendly cottages are on working farms so will require your pet be kept on a lead. If this is the case it will be clearly documented within the cottage description.

Fydo here, quick, my human is out! Will I really enjoy Devon?

You sure will. We have dog-friendly beaches, dog-friendly pubs, the South West Coast Path so you can walk with a view, lots of rivers to splash around in, moorland to explore and some mud to roll in! You will probably make a friend or two while you are here as well – some of us are lucky enough to live here.
