Description
Woodpecker Cottage is a delightful little hideaway, close to the village of Stokenham and set deep in Devon countryside up a narrow wooded lane, bordered by fields and farmland. The village, a 7 minute walk away, has two excellent pubs, both well known for good food, a thriving church, a farm shop and the wonderful shingle beach of Slapton Sands at Torcross a mile further on. The cottage, a recent conversion, is fresh and bright, is most attractively furnished and provides a perfect base to explore the miles of cliff walks around Start Point, golden sandy coves and beaches close by (one for each day of the week), bird watching at Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve, horse riding and golf are all within easy distance.
Accommodation:
Side entrance door into the smart new fitted kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Archway through to a spacious living room with wood burner, two comfortable sofas, dining table to seat 4, Freeview Satellite TV with DVD, Hi-Fi system, MP3 and iPod connector and French doors that open to the front of the cottage. Door to inner hallway. A double bedroom has a 6ft bed and double aspect windows with views over the countryside. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds. Family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC.
Outside:
At one side of the cottage is a paved patio area provided with table and chairs and overlooks neighbouring fields and a large pond. Below the parking area (this is shared with the owners) and beside the driveway is a lawn area with apple trees. The lane is bordered by bluebell woods, that are available to explore and a large pond in an adjacent field provides an opportunity to watch the local wildlife.

Set within the popular South Hams district of South Devon, Kingsbridge is a market town sitting on the Salcombe estuary surrounded by beautiful countryside. Located in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is one of the most popular areas for visitors as it offers so much. The estuary provides plenty of options to get on the water whether fancy sailing, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. If you are just looking for a day on the beach then Salcombe, East Portlemouth, Blackpool Sands or the two beaches at Thurlestone will all fit the bill. Walkers have a choice of walking a section of the South West Coast Path or heading inland and enjoying the many trails in the AONB. Plenty of options when wanting to eat out and some excellent towns and villages to explore nearby including Salcombe, Beesands, Dartmouth and Bigbury-on-Sea.
