Located on the most southerly tip of Devon with wonderful sea views from the garden and most rooms, The Station Officer’s House is a delightful home from home, great for a relaxing family get-together or for couples and friends wanting beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Located at the end of a mews of coastguard cottages, this comfortable, spacious and interesting property looks out to The Channel and surrounding rugged coastline with the amazing South West Coastal Path cutting through the meadow at the end of the garden. This place is a must for those who love dramatic walks with the dogs and getting away from the crowds.

A large, well equipped kitchen opens onto a terrace with garden table and chairs for relaxing alfresco dining. A cosy, wood panelled sitting room with woodburner leads to a dining room with window seating area. There’s a huge master bedroom suite with wrap around balcony overlooking the sea, en suite shower room and mezzanine floor with a sofa and TV, a perfect hideaway if the children are getting too raucous. There’s a single bedroom adjoining the master suite as well as three further bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The pretty village of East Prawle is a mile away, back along the lane and has a welcoming pub as well as a seasonal cafe and shop. For those who want to explore, historic Dartmouth, the sailing Mecca of Salcombe and dramatic Dartmoor are within easy driving distance, but this house is all about the location, the views, the walks, the sounds of the sea and the peace and quiet. Isn’t that what a holiday’s all about?

Rear door to lobby with stairs to master bedroom suite. Utility cloakroom with fridge/freezer, washing machine, WC and sink. Traditional kitchen looking out over the garden with electric range cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Panelled sitting room with 3 sofas surrounding a wood burner stove, 40-inch TV, DVD and Bluetooth speaker. Adjacent dining room with table and seating for 10 as well as a raised window seating area. First floor. Master suite. Huge light and airy master bedroom with 5ft four poster bed and patio doors opening onto a surrounding balcony with stunning sea views. This room is accessed via a separate stairway from the entrance lobby or through an adjoining single bedroom with a 3ft day bed. En suite shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Narrow stairs to a mezzanine floor overlooking the bedroom with sofa and TV for playing DVDs.
Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6 in double bed and sea views. Family bathroom with bath, shower over, hand basin and WC. Stairs to the second floor. Bedroom 3 with two 3ft link beds (can be configured either as a super king or two singles, please specify when booking) and sea views. Bedroom 4 with two 3ft single beds. Bathroom with bath, hand basin and WC.

Outside:

Covered patio with garden table and chairs, loungers and barbecue extend to a sloping garden with amazing coastal and sea views. Rear entrance courtyard.
Please Note that an upper garden is fenced off and not to be used as there are drops to the courtyard.

Parking for one car in designated parking space plus additional visitors parking, subject to availability.

East Prawle

East Prawle is a small village ideal for those that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The village is 8 minutes away from East Portlemouth and very popular with ramblers who are spoilt with their choice of walks that lead to the South West Coast Path. The village, often known as "pig country" is very agricultural and surrounded by working farms, has a very friendly atmosphere and you may often find eggs for sale on the roadside. The village has its own green, a pub which frequently has live music playing, a farm store and adjoining cafe. Lannacome beach is a short drive or walk away and whilst being quite a remote and rugged beach is quite sandy, as is Gara Rock. East Portlemouth beach is ideal for families as the water here is safe and shallow - all of the beaches mentioned are dog-friendly. The village hosts Prawle Fair each year and for one day the village steps back in time with traditional fairground rides, coconut shies, live music and much more. The entertainment continues into the evening at the Pigs Nose Inn and is a fabulous day out for all the family. Take a ferry ride from East Portlemouth to the harbourside town of Salcombe and ride up to the beach from the water on the sea tractor, relax on Salcombe beach with an ice cream from the beach cafe and take in the lovely views.
