The Old Byre is a charming detached cottage next to a farmhouse on the edge of Dartmoor near Dousland. The cottage sleeps two people in one bedroom with bathroom. On the ground floor is a sitting room with wood burning stove and sliding doors to a patio and a kitchen with dining area, plus WC. Outside is a patio with furniture and barbecue and shared gardens with wildlife pond and boules pitch. Less than a mile from the village pub in Dousland and ten miles from Plymouth, The Old Byre is an excellent base for touring Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall.
This smart little cottage is situated less than a mile from the small Devon village of Dousland on the south-western slopes of Dartmoor. Next to the owners' farmhouse, the accommodation has been beautifully renovated to an excellent standard. On the ground floor is a good-sized sitting room where you can curl up with a good book beside the cosy wood-burning stove. Whilst cooking or eating at the dining area in the kitchen, you will be distracted by the fabulous views of the horse in the paddock and the dramatic hills of Dartmoor beyond, tempting you to step out on to the patio which has a barbecue for alfresco meals. Upstairs is the big and beautiful double bedroom with its romantic bathroom. As well as your patio, you are welcome to use the garden beyond where you may spot wildlife around the pond or take on a boules challenge. You are close to the open moor here and it is a lovely place to walk and gaze at the surrounding countryside where the idyllic rural scenes of War Horse were filmed or perhaps at picturesque Burrator Reservoir or the Plym Valley. Enjoy a cream tea at The Garden House with its lovely garden or take a tour of Princetown, the old market town of Tavistock or Plymouths city amenities.The Old Byre is a comfortable place in a lovely area of the moors, just right for exploring Devon and Cornwall.

The 21 mile-long cycling and walking route Drake's Trail, runs through the village and links nearby Tavistock and Plymouth passing through wooded valleys and open moorland.
