The Long House is a delightful thatched farmhouse situated on the owners’ livestock farm, close to the Devon village of Sheepwash and can sleep six people in three bedrooms. There is a superb sitting room with original wooden beams and inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, a spacious kitchen/diner and a snooker room. Upstairs there are three bedrooms two double and one twin as well as a ground floor bathroom and a shower room. Outside there is a private garden with seating and off road parking for two cars. The Long House is an excellent cottage for exploring beautiful Devon, at any time of the year.

This welcoming thatched farmhouse is one of two holiday cottages situated on a 25-acre smallholding in rural Devon, just over half a mile from the pretty village of Sheepwash situated in the Torridge Valley, which is renowned for its fishing, walking and cycling. The original Grade II listed thatched farmhouse dates back to the 1600s and provides a cosy warm family holiday cottage alongside the owners’ home and their friendly sheep, goats and llamas. There is a superb sitting room with original wooden beams and inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, ideal for a toasty warm evening after a walk in the country lanes. The spacious kitchen/diner is a really sociable space for the family to cook local farm produce, eat together, and chat about the day’s activities. The snooker room features antique benches so that the family can gather together after supper before slouching in front of the fire. Upstairs there are three comfortable and beautifully dressed bedrooms, two double and one twin. Outside there is a private garden with seating, a lovely and relaxing place to unwind and listen to the plentiful birdsong and animal sounds from the farm. A wonderful bonus to staying at this delightful cottage is that there is a private grass airstrip, so if you have use of a helicopter or small plane, then why not fly here and leave your car at home? Flying in Devon and Cornwall is a sheer delight with the magnificent, rolling coastal farmland and moorland scenery being largely untouched, and with a variety of small airfields, private farm strips and of course, the beautiful Scilly Isles, you have all the ingredients for a superb flying holiday. Sheepwash village is less than a mile away and offers a good pub, a shop and friendly locals. The stunning River Torridge runs close by and provides a quiet spot along its banks for some trout fishing or a riverside walk to the village. The historic market town of Great Torrington and the larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple are easily reached, while the spectacular North Devon beaches are only short drives away, offering surfing, miles of golden sand and fun-filled sunny days. The Long House is an excellent cottage for exploring beautiful Devon, at any time of the year.

Sheepwash is a small but pretty village with some thatched cottages near the River Torridge. It has a community shop and post office with the attraction of the Half Moon Inn which offers traditional home-cooked food, plus for those who like fishing, 7 miles of private fishing for Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout, or field sports for those who enjoy shooting. The famous Tarka Trail is picked up here for the walking enthusiasts and just 15 minutes drive is Holworthy Golf Club. Torview Vineyard in the village itself offers a local tour of their family-run Winery. Visit the castle dating back to the 14th century, and Atlantis shopping Village in Okehampton. RHS Rosemore and Dartington Crystal Visitors Centre is at Great Torrington which is 8 miles away.
