The first thing that will strike you is the long sandy beach which has safe swimming, the famous pier, perfect sand for sandcastles, fishing trips and plenty of kiosks and cafes. Paignton Zoo has some of the world's most rare and amazing creatures from gorillas and rhinos to capybara. Visit the crocodile swamp and come face-to-face with a crocodile or snake. The historic harbour area is now full of restaurants and cafes that specialise in fresh fish dishes.
