Nestling in the rural village of Beer in Devon, is this period cottage, Smuggler’s Cottage. Perfect for families or two couples travelling together, the property offers rustic and charming accommodation full of character.

The sitting room is a warm and welcoming space and has original ceiling beams and a feature inglenook fireplace and woodburning stove; you can imagine gathering around the stove and spending quality holiday time together here. When it’s time for dinner step into the attractive farmhouse kitchen, where you will find everything needed to create tasty food for your party. Once prepared you can pull up a chair in the inviting dining area to eat together or if the sun is shining step out onto the marvellous terrace area which has breathtaking views over to the sea and beyond. Even if the sun isn’t shining you can take a seat in the gorgeous summerhouse and soak up those views under cover. No doubt you’ll be tired after all those holiday adventures so choose from either of the bedrooms, a king-size complete with TV or an attractive twin; both are stylishly presented and a calming place lay your weary head at night and to wake up to in the morning.

Smuggler’s Cottage offers a great base from which to explore the delights of Devon with the idyllic village of Beer a short walk where you will find the famous Beer Quarry Caves and the delightful Jubilee Gardens. Jump in the car for a rewarding journey to visit places such as Seaton with its scenic tram trip to Colyton, Sidmouth known for its donkey sanctuary and Lyme Regis with its magnificent harbour and causeway.

While you’re in Lyme Regis why not pay a visit to its aquarium and museum and have a browse around its great selection of shops? Beaches worth visiting nearby include Charmouth, Seatown, Dawlish Warren and Weymouth.

Lying on the eastern edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the small coastal fishing village of Beer. Located perfectly for exploring the World Heritage Jurassic Coast the village has a shingle beach surrounded by white chalk cliffs creating a natural sun trap. There are plenty of places to eat out in the village with further options in the surrounding villages. Lots to do and see including Pecorama, a 9-acre site overlooking the sea with the Beer Heights Light Railway travelling through impressive gardens. The Beer Quarry Caves is a series of stunning underground caves filled with exhibits and stone carvings. The Beer Village Heritage Centre will tell you all about the rich history of the area while Marine House shows work by over 100 artists both local and national.
