The Round House is situated in one of the loveliest corners of Devon in the peaceful hamlet of South Huish, in sight of the sea between Salcombe and Thurlestone. Part of a group of luxury converted Georgian barns set in beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds of 4 acres, the cottage has use of both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and an all weather tennis court and croquet lawn

Peacefully situated in a tiny hamlet in one of the loveliest corners of Devon between Salcombe and Thurlestone are the attractive group of converted Georgian barns that comprise Court Barton. All cottages enjoy the use of the newly refurbished outdoor (May Spring Bank Holiday to mid/end Sept (depending on weather)) and indoor (all year) heated swimming pools , games room with table tennis and table football, an all-weather tennis court, and the extensive grounds which includes two attractive courtyards, an orchard and croquet lawn. Should you wish to leave the comfort of this delightful place, less than a mile away is the beach at Thurlestone Sands, wonderful for sunbathing, swimming and watersports, with the village of Thurlestone itself a little further on with its famous links golf course. The beautiful sailing mecca of the Salcombe estuary with its golden beaches is only 3 miles.

Accommodation:

The front door opens to a gleaming limestone tiled hallway with skirting board lighting, off which a utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. The hallway extends into the spacious semi-circular living room that features polished wood floor, a vaulted ceiling with exposed spiral beams and fabulous views from the patio doors and picture windows. Accessed from the patio doors is a sunny raised deck (see "Outside" section below). The room is most comfortably furnished with two large sofas, large flat screen TV with basic sky package and DVD, iPod dock wired to surround sound and a circular dining table to seat 8. The superb kitchen area has eye level double electric ovens, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge and separate freezer.

Bedroom 2 with super king 6ft x 6ft 6in double bed, plasma TV, fitted cupboards, hair dryer and a superb, very contemporary en-suite bathroom with bath, power shower over, heated towel rail, basin and WC. Bedroom 3 with 3ft twin beds. Smart new family bathroom features a double ended bath with central taps, large corner shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC. Both bathrooms are stocked with L'Occitane products. Office/snug room with generous sofa and wall mounted TV leads to the bedroom 4 with 3ft twin beds overlooking the courtyard.

Stairs lead up to the master bedroom suite with a cloakroom with hand basin and WC on the half landing. Vaulted ceiling with exposed beams in the master suite contribute to the grandeur of this sumptuous room with super king 6ft x 6ft 6in bed, luxurious stand alone bath and walk in power shower discretely positioned behind. TV including SKY package.

Outside:

Accessed from the patio doors is a stunning raised deck with large dining table to seat 8 and barbecue. It is a perfect place to enjoy dinner watching the sunset over the sea. The heated outdoor pool in the lower courtyard is open from May Spring Bank Holiday to September, the indoor heated pool is open all year and there are changing rooms and an adjacent shower room with WC. The all weather tennis court is located in a peaceful spot in the mown four-acre grounds that include an orchard and a croquet lawn.

Parking:

Car parking is available. Guests are asked to park one car in the lower or upper car parks. Additional cars, once unloaded, should be moved to the overflow car park.

Area Details

Galmpton

Galmpton is a pretty village by the River Dart with the towns of Brixham and Paignton a short drive away. It has a convenience store, a post office and a pub offering traditional home-cooked food and local ales. This peaceful and scenic village is an ideal base for exploring the local area. There are a variety of bridleways to explore on foot or by bike. A popular route is the walk to Greenway House, Agatha Christie's former holiday home, now owned by the National Trust. Explore this very grand-looking house and vast gardens and then relax in the cafe.

The sandy beaches of Broadsands Beach and Goodrington Sands Beach are not far from here. The beach at Goodrington Sands has a cafe and a section for dogs. Visit Berry Head Nature Reserve in Brixham. This area is a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Enjoy coastal walks around the stunning headland, spot a wide range of wildlife and relax in the cafe. For a family day out, visit Paignton Zoo. The zoo is set in 80 acres and has playgrounds for the children to run excess energy off in and a cafe.
