Set quietly at the end of a hedgerow lane, separate from the few other houses, the Two Moors Way leads past the door to the open expanses of Dartmoor, inviting you to walk and dream. Natural wood and granite have been carefully preserved to create a characterful and welcoming living space, with a wood-burning stove in the living room with its big dining table, and floor to ceiling windows in the kitchen, from where you can wander out to the lovely garden, maybe with a refreshing glass in hand to start the barbecue for an alfresco supper. With two downstairs bedrooms and two upstairs, you are spoiled for choice of sleeping accommodation, ensuring a good night’s rest after wandering the moors and watching the children play on the swings and slide in the garden. With amenities of shops, inns and good eating places in the friendly town of Chagford three miles away, this is a magical place for families to relax, play and watch the moon and the barn owls.
Set in the northern part of Dartmoor National Park, Chagford is a picturesque town that is surprisingly well provisioned, boasting four pubs and a wide range of shops. The River Teign runs through the town and you can go on a riverside walk to find the Fingle Bridge, a local beauty spot. With the largest open-air swimming pool in the south-west and public tennis courts, you can also enjoy your leisure time. Chagford holds music, literary and film festivals annually as well as regular exhibitions of paintings and poetry.
However, most people staying here are coming to wonder at the beauty of Dartmoor. With over 200 square miles of beautiful moorland to discover it is a rambler's dream dotted with historic sites such as Grimspound and dramatic scenery including the famous tors.
