Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sitting on the pretty River Tavy, Tavistock lies on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park. The perfect destination for countryside lovers yet all the convenience of a town with a great range of shops and a large choice of pubs, cafes, restaurants and tea rooms. In addition, the town has a cinema, theatre and a leisure pool. The walking and cycling here are excellent as you would imagine but take time to visit several National Trust properties and gardens nearby or take part in game fishing which the river is renowned for. Although centrally located in the county you are perfectly situated to explore both the north coast with their sandy surfing beaches as well as the south coast with Plymouth, Salcombe, Dartmouth and Torquay all under an hours drive away.
