Property Details

This modern detached house is situated beside the river on the edge of Newton Ferrers. Beautifully designed by an architect with lots of glass and fabulous views, it is ideal accommodation for soaking up the scenery and messing about on the river. The lobby takes you through into the open plan living space where your attention will be immediately drawn to the vista of the creek through ceiling height glass doors which you can slide back to the balcony across the width of the house. On cooler days, snuggle up beside the wood burner, making this a welcoming room whatever the weather. To avoid squabbles over what to watch on TV, you can head downstairs to a snug with additional TV. On this lower level are two bedrooms which also have glazed doors to slide open to a balcony, and a hall leading to steps down to the garden. Take another flight of stairs down again to the two other bedrooms which enjoy access to the garden. The garden is below the house, down a long flight of steps and provides a pretty place to sit out around the big picnic table and enjoy summer lunches and suppers. Newton Ferrers is a fascinating place to sit and watch life drift past on the river, either from your house or from one of the welcoming waterside pubs. Put on your walking boots and take the low tide footpath across the creek or head into the National Trust woodland or along the cliff top Coast Path. There is a local butcher, chemist, post office and grocer in Newton Ferrers and an organic farm shop just two miles away. The village pub, with fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek, serves good food and drink. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 8 miles away while beautiful Totnes with its 'alternative' view on life is a must. If the beach rather than boats are what you seek, you won't do better than the beautiful sands at Mothecombe and Bigbury just a few miles down the road.
