This pretty, thatched cottage is tucked away on the edge of the picturesque Devon village of Drewsteignton, just 400 yards from the pub and village shop. One of three lovely cottages hidden from the lane, it is brilliantly peaceful. From the garden, you step into a big kitchen with dining area, and from there through an arch into a lovely cosy sitting room with wood burning stove in the ancient granite inglenook. In traditional style, two separate staircases lead you upstairs, one to two bedrooms with a bathroom, the other to two more bedrooms with shower room. The two upstairs spaces don't connect, so are handily private for two families or couples. The lawn garden is charming, enclosed by high walls and with loungers and table and chairs for relaxing in the sun. This is a lovely area for walking, with footpaths criss crossing through woodland and beside the River Teign. Enjoy drinks or a meal at the riverside inn, visit National Trust Castle Drogo, browse the interesting little shops in Chagford or head for city thrills in the cathedral city of Exeter, just 14 miles away. Michaelmas Cottage is a peaceful place for a relaxing break or Devon walks.
Drewsteignton is a picturesque village in the Teign valley, 9 miles from the town of Okehampton, and on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The village is popular with walkers and the infamous Two Moors walk passes through the centre of Drewsteignton. The village has its own pub, The Drew Arms, a children's playing field and a village shop. This is a destination perfect for those wanting a rural retreat but close to larger towns. We have a great collection of Drewsteignton self-catering cottages from which you can enjoy the area.
