Leat Cottage Newland Mill is on the outskirts of the village of North Tawton just three miles from Winkleigh. The cottage sleeps four people and has one double bedroom, one twin and a family bathroom. There is also a ground floor basin and WC. Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area with wood burner. Outside is off road parking for two cars and an enclosed garden with furniture. Situated between the rugged tors of Dartmoor, Leat Cottage Newland Mills is a lovely family home to be enjoyed at all times of the year.
North Tawton 0.5 miles. This attractive cottage is part of a converted mill and is situated within its own enclosed gardens, amongst similar properties on the outskirts of North Tawton near Okehampton. This cosy cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the splendour of the Dartmoor Tors or the gentleness of Abbeyford Woods, which is fantastic for dog walks. Inside the cottage is a contemporary open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a woodburner, as well as exposed oak beams. The two spacious bedrooms share a bathroom and, for added flexibility, there is a ground floor cloakroom. The living area opens onto a decked area, with steps leading down to an enclosed garden where dogs and children can play in safety on the lawn. This lovely two-storey cottage overlooks open countryside and is a few minutes from both the Tarka Trail and Abbeyford Woods. A short drive from the cottage is Okehampton where you can visit the castle and also venture into the Victorian shopping arcade for some retail therapy, together with visiting the many cafes and restaurants available. The north and south Devon coastlines are only short drives from this countryside gem together with the cathedral city of Exeter, with its cobbled streets and architecture from medieval to modern day. If your goal is to explore as much as Devon as possible, the small town of North Tawton is perfect as it is so centrally located within the county. Lying just north of Dartmoor National Park amid pretty countryside with the River Taw running through the town, it is remarkably well-provisioned with 4 pubs, an ice cream parlour, fish and chips as well as a pizza takeaway. Several shops and services are available as well as a recreation park. Pretty much all of Devon is accessible from here but close by is the Bow Garden and Aquatic Centre, Dartmoor is only 6 miles away and the Museum of Dartmoor Life at Okehampton is 7 miles away.
