Jellicoe is a delightful cottage located in the village of Ilfracombe in Devon. Hosting one bedroom; a four-poster double with day bed, and a bathroom, this property can sleep up to two people. The Admiral's House, formally the Ilfracombe Manor House, is situated at the edge of Ilfracombe's Harbour and consists of five beautifully converted apartments named after famous Admirals. Jellicoe boasts period features and wonderful views, with easy access to local restaurants and cafe's; ideal for couples, this retreat can be enjoyed all-year-round. Enter inside to the open-plan living area, a snug hideaway, with a sofa and arm chair resting in front of a well-equipped kitchen, for a homely place to relax. A small dining table seats two people, perfect for enjoying breakfast or a morning cup of tea, as you admire the boats and clear water right on your doorstep. Stairs lead up to a four-poster bedroom and a day bed, suitable for children under 12. Full of charm and character, you will look forward to waking up to the pleasant views, and lovely interior each day that goes by. To the rear of the Admirals house is a steep rustic communal garden with fabulous viewpoints from the lawn, and patio sun traps/picnic areas for use by all guests. Ilfracombe is the centre for some of the finest walking country in England. Whether you enjoy a gentle promenade walk around Capstone Hill, or prefer the river valleys and tranquillity of the moorland hills of Exmoor there is something for everyone. The blend of coastal scenery, seaside fun, and centuries of heritage and style make this a wonderful cottage in a notable part of Devon.
Ilfracombe is a picturesque harbour town on the North Devon coast with a reputation as being the culinary and cultural hub of the area. With the 20m high Damien Hirst sculpture Verity overlooking the water (Ilfracombe is Hirst's home town) and a collection of local galleries featuring both local and international artists. There are plenty of great restaurants to try in Fore Street and around the Harbour serving locally sourced food and catering for all tastes and budgets. Booking ahead is recommended especially for restaurants such as The Olive Room.
Lots to do and see in the area including the Tunnels Beaches, Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle with a great mix of children's activities that appeal to all ages or take a tour of haunted Chambercombe Manor. Visit the award-winning Aquarium to take in a fascinating insight into the marine life of the area or discover the history of the area at Ilfracombe Museum. The scenery is stunning and can be enjoyed along the South West Coast Path with views across the Bristol Channel.
