Heather Cottage is a bungalow on the outskirts of Okehampton in Devon. It has a king-size double bedroom and a shower room, it can sleep two people. It has a kitchen and a living diner with a woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for two cars and a front garden with gravel and a patio with furniture. Heather cottage is designed for two as romantic hideaway on the edge of the small market town of Okehampton the gateway to Dartmoor. Set in its own tree laden garden with gravel path and pond it's an ideal secret escape. Enter through the pretty porch into a large and well-equipped kitchen with everything needed to prepare romantic meals for two. To the right is the simply furnished sitting-dining room with large fireplace housing a practical coal effect but gas wood burner, by the window, is a Victorian pine dining table and chairs and opposite a cosy settee. Through into the large Victorian bedroom with original fireplace and mantle, large super king bed dressing table and nursing chair simply decorated in the style and era of the property. It's a cosy yet spacious property laid out on one level, with views to the verdant garden deeply laden with foliage and local scrubs, kept as wild as possible yet comfortable to enjoy a sunny evening meal alfresco with a cool glass of wine. In the surrounding larger main garden is a cedar wood Canadian hot tub open for use 24hours a day (by prior arrangement with owner) situated under an old oak tree on a wooden balcony taking in the best of the local views it adds just a little more spice to your visit. Also available on request a bottle of champagne with hand made chocolates and fresh flowers for just £45. Why not enjoy a massage in the comfort of your own cottage by a highly trained masseuse for £45 per hour. Wanting to explore the town? The granite way cycle path and bike hire is just next door with amazing pubs on route such as the highwayman and the castle inn at Lydford with the well known Lydford Gorge, Okehampton railway station with its freshly made breakfast lunch and afternoon tea room is on the doorstep. Okehampton is set at the very heart of Devon central to both north and south coasts, just an hour or so to the Eden Project, 15 miles from Roadford Lake with a number of water sports and central to a large and diverse amount of a high-quality National Trust and heritage attractions. Most importantly Okehampton with its castle is a doorway to Dartmoor itself with its rugged tors, beautiful stone villages and unspoiled pubs and historic landmarks.
Okehampton is centrally located and lies on the northern border of Dartmoor National Park. This market town is perfect for those looking to escape to the outdoors and is known as the walking centre of Devon. Enjoy the area on foot, by horseback or on a bike and discover the beautiful countryside the area has to offer. The Granite Way is a walking and cycle route that is pretty level, can be travelled along in a day (18 miles in length) and you will be rewarded with the Lydford Gorge and its waterfall at the end of the trail. Okehampton Castle is the remains of the largest castle in Devon dating back to Norman times and has a rich history. There are over 40 places to eat out and there is a good selection of shops making this an excellent place to base yourself to explore the area.
