Head upstairs to the heart of the home on the first floor, gather in the evening to watch a DVD in the sitting area after a sit-down meal at the dining table, amidst the many period features retained. An ample-sized kitchen hosting all you need for a self-catered stay, including a gas hob and electric oven and even a handy dishwasher, leads to the outdoor patio area, with further steps leading to a larger decking, an ideal spot to enjoy the afternoon sun and take in the views of Hillsborough. You can step out onto Fore Street and be spoilt for choice with what to do in this delightful town; grab a drink in the popular George and Dragon pub just a few doors down, browse the independent shops for some souvenirs or head down to the beach. Begin exploring the harbour and catch sight of the boats coming and going, maybe even booking a wildlife cruise or a fishing trip for a day. Visit the Ilfracombe Aquarium which offers local fish exhibits, feeding demonstrations and has a café and gift shop. Sink your toes in the sand on Cheyne Beach, a small stretch of sands between the headlands, before heading to Capstone Hill where beautiful views of the surrounding coastline can be enjoyed as well as panoramic views of the town. A must-visit is the famous Tunnels Beaches; four tunnels hand-carved in the 1820s leading to a beach and Victorian tidal bathing pool.
Only a little further out you can find more wonderful coastal spots like Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, and Combe Martin.

Ilfracombe is a picturesque harbour town on the North Devon coast with a reputation as being the culinary and cultural hub of the area. With the 20m high Damien Hirst sculpture Verity overlooking the water (Ilfracombe is Hirst's home town) and a collection of local galleries featuring both local and international artists. There are plenty of great restaurants to try in Fore Street and around the Harbour serving locally sourced food and catering for all tastes and budgets. Lots to do and see in the area including the Tunnels Beaches, Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle with a great mix of children's activities that appeal to all ages or take a tour of haunted Chambercombe Manor. The scenery is stunning and can be enjoyed along the South West Coast Path with views across the Bristol Channel.
