Court Barton No.8 is a beautifully, and extensively, renovated property that perfectly blends the relaxing comfort of a rural cottage with subtle and tasteful modern living. Spread over three floors, this light, airy and spacious 4-bedroom cottage has been designed using calm and sympathetic colours to reflect its exquisite position and includes a stylish kitchen and contemporary bathrooms. All floors enjoy the breathtaking and outstanding dual aspect views across the rolling hills, through the valley and down to the sea. Uniquely to Court Barton, this cottage is privately accessed from the croquet lawn and is an attractive place to stay in all seasons.

Peacefully situated in a tiny hamlet in one of the loveliest corners of Devon between Salcombe and Thurlestone are the attractive group of converted Georgian barns that comprise Court Barton. All cottages enjoy the use of the newly refurbished outdoor (May Spring Bank Holiday to mid/end Sept (depending on weather)) and indoor (all year) heated swimming pools, games room with table tennis and table football, an all-weather tennis court, and the extensive grounds which includes two attractive courtyards, an orchard and croquet lawn. Should you wish to leave the comfort of this delightful place, less than a mile away is the beach at Thurlestone Sands, wonderful for sunbathing, swimming and watersports, with the village of Thurlestone itself a little further on with its famous links golf course. The beautiful sailing mecca of the Salcombe estuary with its golden beaches is only 3 miles.

Fully fitted kitchen, induction hob and oven, integrated fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
Utility room with washer dryer, microwave, basin and WC.

First floor:
Bedroom 1 with 5ft king size bed, Juliette balcony with small table and chairs overlooking the sea.
Family bathroom with large bath, shower over, basin and WC.
Bedroom 3 with 3ft twin beds.

Second floor:
Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6in bed and en-suite shower room with shower, basin and WC.
Bedroom 4 with 3ft bunk beds.


Terrace furnished with wooden garden table, chairs and barbecue. Sweeping views over the countryside to the sea.


Car parking is available. Guests are asked to park one car in the lower or upper car parks. Additional cars, once unloaded, should be moved to the overflow car park.

Area Details


Galmpton is a pretty village by the River Dart with the towns of Brixham and Paignton a short drive away. It has a convenience store, a post office and a pub offering traditional home-cooked food and local ales. This peaceful and scenic village is an ideal base for exploring the local area. There are a variety of bridleways to explore on foot or by bike. A popular route is the walk to Greenway House, Agatha Christie's former holiday home, now owned by the National Trust. Explore this very grand-looking house and vast gardens and then relax in the cafe.

The sandy beaches of Broadsands Beach and Goodrington Sands Beach are not far from here. The beach at Goodrington Sands has a cafe and a section for dogs. Visit Berry Head Nature Reserve in Brixham. This area is a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Enjoy coastal walks around the stunning headland, spot a wide range of wildlife and relax in the cafe. For a family day out, visit Paignton Zoo. The zoo is set in 80 acres and has playgrounds for the children to run excess energy off in and a cafe.
