Cross over to Dartmouth via boat, train or car, where you can discover the historic delights of Dartmouth Museum, the 16th-century Bayard’s Cove, and the 15th-century Dartmouth Castle. For a day at the beach, follow the South West Coast Path down to the Blue Flag Beach of Blackpool Sands, popular with families, where you can hire kayaks, bathe and paddle the shores.

Kingswear
Kingswear is a charming colourful character village that has beautiful views over the River Dart. With its brightly coloured houses dotted on the steep northern bank of the River Dart, it is no wonder that artists from all over the world keep returning to capture the beauty and the architectural charm of this village. Take the ferry from here across to Dartmouth and then look back to take in the breathtaking view of Kingswear. Take the Steam Train from Kingswear to Paignton whilst soaking up the river and country views. There is a special Santa Steam train journey every December. Stop off at Greenway Holt and walk to the Greenway Estate and explore Agatha Christie's former home. Take the only coal-fired paddle steamer built in 1924, from Dartmouth. There are a range of National Trust walks including the Dart Valley Trail which has some of the finest views in this part of the world. For those who enjoy a challenge, then there is a challenging trek from Kingswear to Brixham which is 11 miles each way, there is a bus at Brixham if you don't want to endure to journey back! Kingswear has 2 pubs and a village store, and a cafe. The Steam Packet Inn even offers eat-in or take-away.
