Located in the rural hamlet of Ashbury, just outside Okehampton, Coachman’s Cottage, situated next to the owners’ home, is the ideal place for those looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing, a real get away from it all with no Wi-Fi to distract you (although there is a good mobile phone signal)! From the private garden, there are far-reaching views across the countryside towards the majestic Dartmoor. This semi-detached cottage is ideally suited for couples seeking somewhere quiet and romantic to escape, or for a small family looking for a rural getaway. The closest village is Northlew, which has a small community-run shop and a pub on the square which serves food. The local town of Okehampton often referred to as the gateway to Dartmoor National Park, has a good range of shops and local amenities. In Dartmoor, there are plenty of walks for all ages and abilities, whilst enjoying this stunning and dramatic area. There is also an array of pretty villages with quaint pubs and tea rooms. There is golf at Okehampton and Ashbury, or you can hire a bike and cycle the Tarka or the Granite Trail.
Travel towards the coast where there are many fine beaches and coves including Saunton, Woolacombe and Westward Ho!, and a trip to Lundy Island can be arranged from Bideford pier. The nearest beaches are at Bude, Northcott and Widemouth. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. Visit the last castle to be built in England at National Trust Castle Drogo. For those wanting to travel a little further afield, the A30 is a great link into North Cornwall and its many attractions including The Eden Project and Padstow. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant 7 miles.
