On the northern edge of Exmoor on Devon's North Coast, Lynmouth is a small village in stunning surroundings attracting lovers of the outdoors for many years. The West and East Lyn Rivers meet in the town and run down to the sea shortly after. There is a good selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms as well as a couple of independent shops so everything you need is on your doorstep.
People come for the stunning scenery and the excellent walks but there is plenty to do and see in the area. The Lyn and Exmoor Museum is full of local history and the steep Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a must-visit. The Valley of the Rocks is unlike any other valley you will see on the north coast, created during the ice age and marvelled at by visitors ever since. There are numerous walks in the area, as you would expect, with every turn revealing more stunning countryside, coastal views, waterfalls or wildlife including red deer and wild ponies.
