It depends what you are looking for! If you are like us, and would like a lovingly converted, spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming cottage holiday then you will find Cider Barn perfect. (If you want boutique hotel chic, then Cider Barn is not for you. )The barn is beautifully laid out, allowing stunning views of the countryside and privacy from the main house. The whole house was immaculate, providing a lovely master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a family bedroom with a smaller double and single bed, plenty of space, and another ensuite. Kitchen was perfect and bathroom facilities are fine - it's a real treat having 2 baths and 2 toilets, the cottage would work great for 2 small families or a family with older children who want their own space. There's lovely antique furniture and family-friendly decoration throughout. There is a very comfortable living room with a wood-burning stove and TV/DVD, and there's a nice table in the dining area, but we loved eating on the terrace, watching the sun go down over the orchard and the fields. The house and facilities are genuinely great for kids - ours are 3 and 6. They loved exploring the orchard and playing on the tennis court, and the house was manageable and fun for them. It's rare to find a holiday rental which is so genuinely family-friendly and welcoming (despite what's said online!).Ann and Peter were perfect hosts, being very welcoming and approachable, especially to the kids, but also unobtrusive and respecting our privacy. The house is filled with thoughtful touches: there was a cream tea with homemade scones on our arrival, home-made pot pourri, and flowers from the owners' garden all over. A lot of love and care have gone into creating Cider Barn and you can really feel it.We had no problem limiting ourselves to two baths a night, using DVDs instead of streaming media, and using our phone data to check emails occasionally instead of spending the whole week online. This is the kind of holiday we remember happily from our own childhoods, and it was perfect. We hope to return in any season and get to know the area, and Ann and Peter, better.

We went as a family and really enjoyed our stay, the owners were very helpful with alsort of things and they also let the girls feed their chickens! The kitchen was well equipped, as I do a lot of cooking this was great. It has a rustic charm and lots of wildlife, the views from the windows are wonderful, meadows and fields that wash away any stress. You will need to drive, there are plenty of supermarkets to hoose from about 15mins away and a nice farm shop with a tea room 10mins away.Lots of places to visit within 20-30 min drive. We found it a peaceful and relaxing break away from city life and would definitely go again.
