Chaffinch Lodge is a lovely lodge on a 28-acre fishing farm near Highampton and Hatherleigh, sleeping two people. This ground floor lodge has a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin room, a family bathroom and an open plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, a private patio with furniture and a 28-acre farm with 5 unfenced fishing lakes, woodland walks, an unfenced wildlife pond and a picnic area. Set near a caravan park, this single-storey luxury lodge is set in the woods close to fishing lakes and offers an open plan living area with patio doors opening to a veranda, ideal for spotting the wildlife frequenting the lake, particularly butterflies and dragonflies. The smart open plan living area has a wall-mounted TV, central heating and a bright contemporary interior which offers comfort all year round. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the twin bedroom has use of a family bathroom.

These rural retreats are situated next to the owners’ 18th century thatched farmhouse and back onto a small, friendly caravan site, providing a sociable holiday atmosphere. Both cottages are open plan and have small, private outdoor seating areas as well as the freedom to wander this beautiful site with wildflower meadows, woodland walks and five sizeable fishing lakes, well stocked with Common, Mirror Ghost and Grass Carp, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Tench and Perch. There is also a wildlife lake where visitors can marvel at the colourful dragonflies, interesting birds and cheeky ducks. All guests and day visitors to this Highampton farm are provided with a warm welcome by the owners and all the animals; there is always help and advice on hand. It is just a 15-minute walk into the friendly village where you can stock up in the shop or meet the locals for a glass of local brew in the thatched pub. This part of rural Devon is known as Ruby Country and has some spectacular trails for walking or cycling. Further afield, the stunning North Devon coastline is rich in beaches, so guests at these lovely cottages will have a huge choice of surfing, swimming and rock pool beaches to choose from. Whether you decide to stay on-site and relax, or if you’d rather venture out and discover the nearby area, you will be sure to enjoy your stay in this wonderful area.

Highampton is a small parish village spread over 4 miles which stands on a ridge with views of Dartmoor and Exmoor. The village has a local shop and easy driving to Hatherleigh to sample a choice of 3 pubs or Black Torrington for the Black River Inn. Highampton has a number of trails for walking, cycling or running and is close to the A30 for easy access to the beautiful beaches of Devon. The White Lady Waterfall and NHS Lydford Gorge which has play areas for children both in Okehampton close by are very picturesque and Dartmoor is 20 minutes away.
