In peaceful Devon countryside, half a mile from the centre of the popular moorland village of Chagford is this handsome detached Victorian house. Set in beautiful gardens, it is a lovely place for gatherings of friends and for fabulous family holidays. The country style interior is relaxed and you will feel at home amongst the wood floors and large windows. From the porch into the hall, you then enter the sitting room, an elegant space with time-wasting views across Chagford to Dartmoor hills. For snuggling down, the smaller sitting room with wood burning stove is a cosy spot, and on sunny days you can throw open the French windows to the terrace. You can enjoy group meals in the country style kitchen with its bespoke units and breakfast table, or gather around the big table in the dining room with its open fire. Another snug space is the office, where you can relax on the sofas beside the wood-burning stove whilst the children play with the toys provided. After a damp walk on the moors, the large sunroom is a handy spot for drying soggy dogs and walking gear. Down in the cellar is more drying space, and a great games room for children and the young at heart. The five bedrooms ramble over the two upper floors. Outside are beautiful gardens with plenty of grassy terraces and ponds enjoyed by wildlife, where you can fish (catch and return) if you bring your rods, and fields beyond. The ponds and fields are shared with neighbours. Chagford’s busy little town centre is a fascinating hub of shops and inns and Exeter’s city amenities are just 17 miles away.
