Beeches Cottage, one of the larger properties in Buckland Court offers spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to 8 guests, close to the pretty village of Slapton and the coast in South Devon. Located in delightful South Hams countryside and near the world famous nature reserve at Slapton Ley, it's also close to a 3 mile beach and several excellent real ale pubs. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are within 15 minutes drive, both with interesting shops, fine restaurants, boat trips, sailing and much more. Totnes, a quaint Elizabethan town is 9 miles away and Dartmoor, with wonderful walking and spectacular scenery is within easy reach. Buckland Court is well situated for a wide range of indoor and outdoor pursuits including golf. A gate from the courtyard opens out to a sweep of grass and orchard (1.5 acres) including a large pond populated by ducks. There is a built in barbecue with picnic benches where guests can relax and young people can play outdoor games and new for 2015 a children's adventure playhouse on stilts with a slide and swings and a pool table/tennis table in the laundry room for those rainy days.

The cottages are very comfortable and well furnished and set around a pretty courtyard with summer hanging baskets and benches. The kitchens are well equipped with gas hobs, cooker extractor hoods, built-under ovens, fridges and microwaves. All beds are standard size (4ft 6in doubles, 3ft singles). The bathrooms all have a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC. All cottages have central heating, a gas fire in the living area and are equipped with iron and ironing board. There is a large communal laundry room with coin operated washing machine, dryer and freezer. There is a large range of local information and in season a small incubator, who knows what you might see hatch during your stay! Water is supplied through filtered and tested borehole water. The resident caretaker keeps a whiteboard up to date with the latest sightings of wildlife, can lend you a bat detector, a metal detector or a telescope and is conversant in German and French. He is always ready with suggestions that will help you get the most out of your holiday.

Beeches Cottage is the most spacious at Buckland Court, has full central heating and sleeps 6 in three bedrooms with full-size beds. Downstairs, a striking feature of the cottage is its spacious open plan living and dining room. The dining area has oak laminated floor and a fully equipped kitchen, including microwave, freezer and dishwasher. There is a step down to the large living area with gas log effect fire, two big three seater sofas (one being a full-sized sofa-bed) and three armchairs. There is a TV, DVD and a stereo system. Upstairs a huge picture window with doors looks out from the landing over the orchard and gives access to a small patio  and the communal gardens. The master suite comprises a large double bedroom with sofa and TV and an en-suite bathroom. The bedroom has views over the duck ponds and gardens across rolling countryside towards Dartmoor. There are two further good sized twin bedrooms each with two 3ft beds and a second bathroom. Both the family bathroom and the en-suite have showers over the baths.


From the landing French windows to small private patio with garden table and chairs. An archway in the corner of the lower courtyard (separated by a substantial gate) opens out to a large pond populated by ducks and a sweep of grass and orchard (1.5 acres) including a built in barbecue with picnic benches where guests can relax and young people can play outdoor games as well as a new children's adventure playhouse on stilts with a slide and swings. 

Parking: Car parking in the drive, not in the lower courtyard except for loading and unloading.

Slapton is a small picturesque village lying between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The village is half a mile from Slapton Sands. The village has 2 pubs and a village store. Slapton Ley Nature Reserve attracts visitors from all over the world. Slapton Sands beach was taken over in 1943 to use as a rehearsal area for the D-Day landings. It is a large shingle beach, very dog friendly and backed by a sea wall with lifeguards in the summer and a cafe. Woodlands Family Theme Park in Dartmouth 30 minutes away is a great family day out. Also in Dartmouth is Fast Rabbit Farm Gardens.
