Description
This beautiful area of Devon, a National Park, with sweeping open moorland, high tors, rivers that rush down over granite boulders down to deep wooded valleys, is loved by those who enjoy walking and riding. There are historic moorland towns and picturesque villages, secluded beauty spots and spectacular views and Beckaford Cottage, an attractive detached conversion, is no exception. Tucked on the side of a valley alongside the owner's home, the cottage has lovely views across the valley to the moors beyond, is surrounded by 35 acres and has its own private drive and garden area. The famous and beautiful Becky Falls, which tumble 70 feet beneath a canopy of oaks, is within walking distance of the cottage. Beckaford is traditionally furnished and equipped and provides a most convenient base from which to explore this outstandingly beautiful area of Dartmoor.
Accommodation:
Wood stairs lead up to the open plan living room with exposed scissor beams, picture windows with lovely views on both sides, sofa, two arm chairs, wood burner, flat screen TV, DVD, stereo/CD player, a selection of books and dining table to seat six. Kitchen area with unusual hand-made kitchen units, built-in electric oven and hob, microwave and larder fridge. Separate external utility room with washing machine and freezer. The bedrooms are on the ground floor. Double bedroom with 4ft 6in bedstead and fitted cupboard. Twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin in vanity unit and WC.
Outside:
There is a level area of lawn with table and chairs. Opposite the cottage, Charlie, Theo and Bessie are the horsey residents in the stables. 35 acres surround the property, including five acres of woodland and direct access onto moorland. It is all part of a small working farm.
