Situated in the little village of Upcott near Holsworthy, amidst the rolling green hills of Tarka County, lies this charming bungalow, Ashmead. The property is deceptively large, providing a lovely base for families or groups of six to return to each evening.

After a day of rambling, kick off your shoes in the entrance hallway before finding the sitting room, where you can curl up before the wood-burning stove and slowly drift off. Move round to the kitchen/diner, boasting plenty of space for home-cooking, along with a whole host of appliances to assist you throughout your stay, including a double electric oven and induction hob, coffee machine and even a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Rest within the sunroom as you lose yourself in a good book, or venture outside where you can enjoy a glass of prosecco from the table and chairs. Discover the master bedroom, home to a sumptuous king-size bed where you can snuggle up after a day of walking, or choose to freshen yourself up in the en-suite bathroom. There is also a sumptuous double and two single rooms, served by a family bathroom with bath, hand-held shower and walk-in shower, giving you the choice of how to prepare for the day.

From the door you are spoilt for choice with a plethora of walking and cycling routes over the rolling fields and hidden valley, and the picturesque Exmoor and Dartmoor National Park are also within easy reach. Head into the market town of Holsworthy to find your local amenities, including a well-stocked supermarket, local shops, a lovely park and leisure centre.

Venture further afield to Bude on the Cornish coast where you’ll find dog-friendly beaches, plenty of superb eateries and many surf schools where you can try your hand at the watersport. If you prefer calmer waters then take a dip in the Bude Sea Pool, popular for swimming and paddleboarding, or join the South West Coast Path and marvel at the dramatic landscapes that make up this beautiful county.

Holsworthy is a market town set in stunning countryside amidst rolling hills. Every Wednesday they hold the popular Pannier Market which dates all the way back to the 12th century. The Holsworthy Museum features displays and information on rural life in days gone by. A variety of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants can be found around the square.

Holsworthy is the ideal base for exploring Devon. As a base, it offers the peace and tranquillity of the countryside but you also have easy access to the Hartland Peninsula, the sandy beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay, Dartmoor is within an easy drive as is the Tamar Valley.
