When ready to explore your surroundings, be sure to grab your swimming costumes and head down to the soft sandy shores of Bigbury beach or grab your walking boots and set about on a scenic hike along the South West Coast Path. Cross the River Avon over to Bantham or continue along to Hope Cove for the incredible vistas. Explore the iconic Burgh Island with its art deco styled hotel that has hosted the great and the good since the 1920s. The Pilchard Inn on the island is a pleasant stop-gap before boarding the unique sea tractor to return to your holiday home.

Spend the day at Woodlands Family Theme Park, just a pleasant drive away, or see the exotic residents of Dartmoor Zoo and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park. The historical port city of Plymouth lies within easy touring distance and is home to many attractions such as The Mayflower Museum, Smeaton's Tower and the 17th-century fortress of Royal Citadel, offering a fun-filled day for the whole family to enjoy. The small hamlet of Bigbury-on-Sea is another perfect location for seaside holidays located in the South Hams area in South Devon. The beach offers everything you could ever desire for the perfect day by the sea including safe swimming with seasonal lifeguards (May to September) and shallow waters. The beach is very spacious and has disabled access. At low tide, you can take a walk over to Burgh Island or if you can't wait take a trip over on the famous sea tractor and discover the Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel, the links with Agatha Christie and its history of pirates and smugglers. A great area for rockpooling this area is a big hit for kids of all ages.

The facilities are equally good with two car parks, clean toilets and even showers for the surfers and bathers. The Discover Surf School offers surf lessons for beginners and intermediates and they also offer windsurfing and kitesurfing. The Venus Café has a variety of food and drinks options including the all-important ice cream and there is even a beach barista. A pub is also available on Burgh Island. Dogs are allowed on one side of the beach and there are dog bowls and water available for them as well.
